Mr Julian Earl BVSc, Cert SHP, Cert WEL, MRCVS

Qualified in 1981 from Liverpool University and subsequently worked in Lancashire for eight years before joining the practice in 1989. He became a partner in 1991, and is a former President of the Lincolnshire Division of the British Veterinary Association.

Mr Earl has twice been invited to the House of Commons to discuss animal welfare and other veterinary matters with MPs. He has spoken to Women's Institutes and Young Farmer's Clubs about unusual cases that he has attended, such as an egg-bound tortoise, dogs eating many things that they shouldn't, and a cow stuck in a tree.

The most challenging audience however was a class of children at Scamblesby school in November 2006 when he helped teach about teeth and diets in domestic animals.

He owns two cats, "Horse" and "Min", four sheep (names too embarrassing to mention), and an uncertain number of fish.

Continuing Professional Development

All vets within the practice carry out a minimum of thirty-five hours of continuing professional development (CPD) every year as demanded by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and will usually have carried far more than this minimum requirement. In this way the practice stays up-to-date with the latest information and ideas about treating and caring for the wide-range of animals owned by our clientele.

Recent courses attended by members of the practice include:

  • Eye diseases

  • Rabbit medicine

  • Heart disease in cats

  • Heart medication and heart disease in dogs

  • Hip dysplasia in dogs

  • Skin diseases in dogs and cats

  • Orthopaedic injuries to the knee of dogs

  • Animal welfare

  • Skin diseases of the horse limbs
