Prescriptions
If it is preferred, then
prescriptions for animal medicines can be supplied in order that medicines
can be purchased from a pharmacy. Please note that due to European law,
the specific medicine that is on the prescription must be supplied and if
the pharmacy does not carry the particular brand that we are confident to
prescribe, there may be a delay in obtaining the necessary treatment for
your pet.
Please note that we require at least
three working-days notice to prepare prescriptions.
Repeat prescriptions
Animals that are on long-term
medication need repeat supplies of their medication and this can be
arranged. However, it is very important to remember that diseases progress
over time, either for better or for worse, and therefore the original
medication might no longer be appropriate at a later date.
It is for this
reason that the law states that animals have to be under our care in order
for us to supply medication.
Consequently, for us to give your animals the
best care that we can it is necessary for us to decide the most suitable
interval between check-ups for those on long-term medication. For some
patients this might be as long as six months, for others it may be less.
In all cases, the practice staff will explain this when long-term
medication is first deemed to be necessary.
